How to change the number of displayed links?

A question:

Where can I make changes to how the external links are displayed?

I know I can modify the skin...

but what I'm looking to do is change two things:

1) Breaking up links in chunks of 100 instead of chunks of 30. I cannot find which PHP file to modify.

2) Put a previous/next set of buttons at the bottom of the links.

3) Perhaps move the 1-30 31-60 61-90 breakup up top down to the bottom, as that's more ergonomically correct. [you are physically already at the bottom of the page - to go to the next set shouldn't require the user to go back up to then select the next group of linke

4) Have the links display as blogs or in some other format.

I'm sure there is osmething obvious that I'm missing but I can't find it. I was able to increase the search results from 30 to 100 (as I have thousands of links and I would like the search results to reflect the large amount of news available at my site).

Thanks, Bernard or anybody else who can help!

Simplify3:

I found it! I found it! SKIN_SKELETON.PHP right under the SKINS directory, contains a line that hard-codes:

LINKS_PER_PAGE

It's preset to 30.

I changed it to 500 and everything is perfect now!

I have change this to 100 for the next 7.6 release. Thanks for the feed-back.

Bernard:

Thanks! I wonder if (in the future - not this release as it's a pain to change hard-coding into reliable dynamic content) it'll eventually be possible to have a "Results-Per-Page" selection? It's more for the "power-users" of a website, but still - someday it might be nice.

I still adore the search engine - I have it featured right in the first page of my site. I even put keyword suggestions underneath it, to help new users.

I've gotten praise for that already and i only changed it three days ago. I think it's an elegant solution to the problem of having too much information. [simplifying and organizing the site will be a future goal - just not yet].

Anyhow - thanks a million for making the change for the next release - that will prove very useful, and 100 links-per-page/results-per-page is managable in these days of higher-speed internet connectivity.

To Change the number of links displayed (especially useful for the search engine - if you have a lot of feeds like me), go into: links/links.php and change

$count=

to some number you wish to display. I wouldn't make it any lower than it says (some have 20, some display 10, etc) but in my case, I made the numbers MUCH higher (200 results for the search) - since there's really no other way anybody's going to get some of those links otherwise.

[if people complain or if it gets too slow, then I'll change it down]

Anyhow, that's the spot.

You can do the same in articles/articles.php to increase the # of search results shown.

A "more" button or having the search results broken up 1-200 201-400 etc - like it does in the Recent Links would make it easier, but this works for now.

Thanks Bernard for making things easy enough to change. it's nice to be able to customize by simply changing a number here and there.

Add SNAP.COM to your YACS and allow users to see PREVIEWS of your external links.

Just today, I added snapshots to my site and they work beautifully!

Background: I have a LOT of external links on my site, http://free.naplesplus.us/ for local news. I do post some articles, have some user interaction, but primarily I use Yacs as a news aggregator, and it does a fantastic job.

Just today, I added the famous snap.com snapshots to external links, and it works perfectly.

Just visit http://snap.com

and add the code they suggest to your Trailer on your Meta rendering options.

It will work instantly and perfectly. you won't know what you did without it!

[it also brings pictures and colorful-ness to YACS - something that it sometimes lacks].

Enjoy! Thanks Bernard - YACS 7.6.3 didn't complain at all when I added the snap.com previews!
