Current downloads?

I'm confused...

In the download area the only active listing is ver. 6.1, and yet there is discussion about ver. 6.9 alpha. Where can I download the last stable version, say, 6.8?

Also, a 2005 article talked about an online manual and I can't find a link to it. Is there another site where I might find this stuff?

What I do not know is what this new version features. I remember reading an impressive full review of version 6.9 (in French by Fernand, I believe) and I was wondering if I could have more details on the new release. But maybe such details are provided only for major upgrades and maybe this is a minor one. Just wondering...
